DJ HOLY takes Afrobeats & Amapiano to Albania Castle

To be a DJ, you need to know more than simply how to mix and play music. You also need to know what makes people happy and what makes them dance.  DJ Holy’s set at the top of Watch Tower in Durres Castle, Albania, proves that great music knows no boundaries, even though Albania might not seem like a normal place for an Afrobeats DJ.

The thrill had been building.  People wanted to know when the mix would eventually be available. And when it did, it was everything the buzz promised and more.

DJ Holy taught a master class in how to share culture through sound on the gorgeous medieval rooftop of Durres Castle.  The Watch Tower is a well-known building in Albania with a lengthy history. It was an unusual place for South African amapiano grooves and West African rhythms to play.  Holy claimed that rhythm is a language that everyone can understand and can turn any space into a dance floor.

The DJ from Birmingham, who is one of the UK’s most popular and fastest-rising DJs, brought his own particular energy to the Balkans.  His marriage of Afrobeats’ catchy melodies and amapiano’s hypnotic basslines made it so that people from all over the world could appreciate it.  The girls danced, the boys moved, and the castle walls, which had seen hundreds of years of history, rocked with a new type of intensity.

The location of this show is what made it so special.  Afrobeats culture is expanding to new regions, and Holy’s performance at such a well-known venue proves that the genre is getting more popular around the world.

The mix propagated all over the internet, and it became more than simply a recording of a performance. It revealed that Afrobeats and amapiano are very popular all over the world.  DJ Holy keeps pushing the limits and laying seeds for the culture, one spectacular set at a time, from Birmingham to the Balkans.

The castle may have been there for hundreds of years, but Albanian music will remember the night DJ Holy played there for a long time.
