Artist Spotlight: Meet MonstarrBoi, the talented artist that VDM Signed

Dennis Atsiangbe, better known as MonstarrBoi, is having the kind of moment that most artists only dream about in the music business, where one connection and talent can change an artist’s whole career. And all signs point to it being just the beginning.

The Important Co-Signs

VeryDarkMan, or VDM, is one of Nigeria’s most powerful activists and social media voices. Millions of people trust, follow, and listen to him without question. It wasn’t just a birthday gift when VDM publicly introduced MonstarrBoi as his artist, called him “super talented,” and said he wanted to start a record label around him. It was a promise from someone who doesn’t play with his credibility.

But the real buzz came when MonstarrBoi met Burna Boy. Africa’s biggest global music export listened to him and said he was very talented. His raw, soulful, and distinctly African voice is one of the most recognizable sounds in the world. There is no way for Burna to hear echoes of himself in a young artist that a PR campaign, a playlist placement, or an industry connection can make. It’s all about the gift.

MonstarrBoi is already making a name for himself in Nigeria’s Afrobeat scene. He is slowly and carefully adding to his catalog. His work with VDM on “Ole” made an exciting Afrobeat anthem that introduced both artists with a lot of energy.

Their next song, “Papa J,” came out in September 2025 and was a bold satire of people who use religion for their own gain. It was the kind of song that showed the artist wasn’t afraid to say something real.

His solo songs, the high-energy “Ova Do” and the confident “Calculate,” complete the picture of an artist whose sound is already set, whose writing is sharp, and whose voice has the kind of natural authority that makes people think of the greats.

DTMF: What should we expect?

MonstarrBoi is getting ready to take his biggest step yet. His first EP, “DTMF” (Don’t Touch My Focus), will come out on April 10, 2026. He is recommended by a big activist, followers went up overnight and when he EP drops, I’m pretty sure it’s going to top the charts because he is super talented.

“DTMF” comes at the perfect time, not as an introduction, but as a confirmation. VDM is building a label around him, Burna Boy is giving him his seal of approval, and his body of work already turns heads.
