In an exclusive interview, UK-based Afrobeat DJ Holy shared his ambitious vision for 2025, offering a glimpse into his plans as a DJ and his vision for 2025? Expansive, collaborative, and unapologetically ambitious.
• Q: What are your main goals as an Afrobeat DJ in 2025? Are there any specific events, residencies, or collaborations you aim to secure?
As a UK based Afrobeats DJ, my main goal for 2025 is to continue to expand my brand all over the UK. Compared to my city Birmingham, there are other cities in the UK that are yet to have a big Afrobeats scene and I think it’s part of my role as an Afrobeat DJ to push the Afrobeats culture to these places. Not just the music, but the food, the culture and the lifestyle. Using my event brand AfroCircle, collaborating with fellow DJs and promoters is big on my agenda this 2025. I want to able to go to different cities and not just perform my DJ set but also collaborate with resident DJs, promoter and venues on other projects.
• Q: How do you plan to expand your presence in the UK Afrobeat scene or internationally?
The one major way I will be expanding my brand presence as the UK Afrobeats DJ, here in the UK and internationally is to firstly continue what I have been doing all these years, which is building a community of people that love Afrobeats. They say consistency is the key right? Not just as social media followers, I want to continue to build A tangible Afrobeats community here in the UK. My community has been growing rapidly, I segment them in 3 groups: The original Africans, the Afrobeats Lovers and the ones that are interested in the Afrobeat culture. I will continue to build that all year 2025.
Adding to that, in the UK I want to collaborate more with other DJs and brands that align with me. Then Internationally, I want to expand my presence through continuous social media mixes on Instagram and TikTok. TikTok DJ Mix is a heavy focus for me in 2025.
• Q: What is your vision for the website in 2025? Are there plans to rebrand, expand, or launch new features?
For the website, DJHOLY.COM it’s simple, the vision is for it to be a hub, a platform for Afrobeats UK. Where people that love Afrobeats can read the latest Afrobeats and African Music News. People in the UK can purchase Afrobeats event tickets with no extra unnecessary charges by these big ticketing companies, and lastly we want to use DJHOLY.COM as a collaborative platform for other creatives such as writers, bloggers and YouTubers to showcase their works and talents. Because I believe, currently in the UK, Afrobeats do not have an entertainment industry yet, all we have now is just a club night/event scene. To be able to have a full fledged entertainment scene we need to assist other creatives and help them flourish.
In 2025, we just need to continue to raise the awareness of DJHOLY.COM and letting Afrobeats people know what’s available on the website and let creatives know there’s an opportunity here to work.
• Q: Do you see the website evolving beyond its current purpose? For example, will it host exclusive mixes, interviews, or artist promotion?
Yes! On DJHOLY.COM the ultimate goal is hosting exclusive interviews with Afrobeats acts and entertainment personalities. Then artist promotion, focusing on mainly rising stars and emerging Afrobeats artists. DJ Mixes is already a huge feature, we just need to push that even more.
• Q: Are there any Afrobeat artists or producers you’d like to work closely with in 2025?
For artists, I love this new Nigerian hausa artist called FirtKlaz, I would love to work with him. His style, brand and marketing is top notch. For creatives, I would love to work with Korty EO, she’s just simply amazing with her YouTube contents and other amazing stuff. Then my forever dream is to one day work with Black Coffee, if that ever happens – that is dream come through!
• Q: How do you plan to use the website or your DJ platform to support upcoming Afrobeat talent?
In 2025, we want to use DJHOLY.COM to support lots of upcoming Afrobeats artists, talents and creatives by showcasing their songs and publishing featured articles on them. On my other DJ platforms such as my social media, New song mixes will be a regular feature. We will be doing these weekly and I believe we will be able to impact the careers of a lot of artists and creatives this year.
DJ Holy’s vision for 2025 is clear and focused. He’s determined to grow the Afrobeats culture across the UK and beyond, not just through his music but by creating opportunities for others to thrive. His passion for building a community, supporting emerging talent, and collaborating with creatives shows his commitment to the genre’s future.
As the year unfolds, it’s evident that DJ Holy isn’t just part of the Afrobeat movement, he’s one of its driving forces.
